I guess it's been awhile - I'm slowly (or grudgingly) adjusting to the whole 'share what you're thinking/making/wearing/doing/eating' mindset. It's been almost a year since I've posted, despite the fact I've sat in front of a computer at some point almost daily...I figured I'm not the pope or the president, so it's not exactly a great loss for humanity's collective cultural awareness. That's a little dramatic, if not soul-crushingly objective.
Hey - some awesome things happened in 2014! Matt and I got married in October, so now I'm Mrs. Marchese, which is both fantastic and weird. Well only the 'Mrs.' thing is weird - before getting engaged, I'd never really imagined or fantasized about a wedding or being married - just assumed that stuff would possibly follow depending on who I met and the lifestyle we wanted. Which is strange because being a somewhat anxious person, over-anticipating uncontrollable future events is my default.
The fantastic part is ::mushwarning:: being just as excited to build a home one day as to build models and Legos today, as happy to imagine traveling abroad someday as to travel from Riften to Raven Rock today, and as excited to have kids one day as to have a cozy weekend with the kitties today. ::endingmushtransmission::
Another 2014 thing - I completed my final character commissions and will not continue to design or take character commissions in the foreseeable future. I'm pretty excited to be solely working on new concepts and designs at this point - in the past I hadn't fully pushed myself to experiment and take risks. So I'm going to try. Maybe work towards attending a workshop this year. I've heard a former KSU professor told a class of exiting seniors they'll spend the first two years after graduation sitting on the couch, sucking their thumbs and crying for their mothers, wondering what in God's name to do with themselves. Graduated May 2013...this couch is truly the peak of human engineering, but my aspirations, much like my spine, could use an adjustment.
...my apologies for an attempt at emerging adulthood/chiropractic humor.
Thought I'd share the last few characters and our cake toppers - enjoy!

Little acorn guys - Orangestone thrown on the wheel with tenmoku glazed caps, inspired by the lovely City of Oaks, Raleigh, NC.
Commission for a karaoke singer - I called him Freddy.
Thrown and altered cake toppers - Phoenix for mine and Orangestone for Matt's. I didn't glaze them, just bisqued with a subtle wash to emphasize texture.
Character for a friend of mine, sort of an artist trade....waiting for my prints COLIN. We share an appreciation for the marvelous feat in culinary genius that is the burrito.
The final characters, two mini Otto Pop!'s (just posting one, they looked pretty similar) and Lady Justice.
Adieu Otto!
